Hello, my name is Rachel. I am from Canterbury in Kent, and currently live near the market town of Faversham.
From a very early age I was obsessed with books and reading, forging a passion for literature which I formalised through an A Level in English Literature (Grade A) and undergraduate degree in English Literature from Cardiff University (2:1 Hons).
I have always found joy in passing on this love of literature through teaching. Undertaking work experience in schools during my degree confirmed that I saw my future in education. Immediately after graduating, I commenced a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Bath, specialising in Secondary School English teaching, and I qualified as a teacher in 2009.
I taught for 2 years post-qualifying in the West Country before moving both geographical locations and careers. However, my passion for the subject and education has not left me, and I have worked as a private tutor for both GCSE and A Level students.
I am now looking forward to expanding this offering, by helping your child unlock their full potential at all stages of their secondary school English education.
My Degree Certificate, Teaching Qualification Certificate and an up-to-date DBS certificate can be viewed as required.

Studying WWI literature at school sparked my passion for exploring the stories of ordinary people against historical context.
My all-time favourite novel: poignant, clever and heart-breaking
My favourite Shakespeare play is Much Ado About Nothing, and I love teaching it. It's accessible and funny!
A novel I would recommend to everyone is To Kill a Mockingbird. A beautifully told story with enduringly important lessons.
